FOOD and Drink Federation Scotland (FDFS) is calling on the Scottish and UK governments to streamline regulations.
The call comes in response to the Office for National Statistics’ data that shows food and drink price inflation rose to 16.9% in December, while the headline rate dropped for the second month in a row to 10.5%.
FDFS chief exec David Thomson said: “Food and drink prices have risen for the 17th consecutive month.
“The UK Government’s continued energy support is welcome and will help to contain food and drink price inflation.
“But there’s more the governments could be doing to help keep costs down for households – including by urgently simplifying current and prospective regulation.”
