Spar bonds with local community

SPAR colleague with cheque and bag piper

SPAR Scotland and its flagship Crosshouse store have held two special events that show the close ties with the Ayrshire community they serve.

The shop hosted a spectacular Burns bash, providing customers with Scottish-themed goody bags, Scottish product samples from PK Foods, Barr and Browning’s, plus samples of whisky and gin.

A piper from Kilmarnock Pipe Band also joined the festivities on 20 January and Spar Scotland donated £3,000 to the band’s Creating Positive Pathways youth programme.

Pipe Major Paul Warren said: “We can’t put into words just how much this parntership means to us.”

The same day also saw a fun morning of activity at Crosshouse Hospital, with the chance to win prizes from the Spar spinning wheel and product samples and giveaways from Browning’s and Snappy Shopper.

All hospital staff also received 25%-off COOK vouchers that were redeemable at Spar Crosshouse.

And Spar Scotland donated £1,000 to the hospital endowment fund.

Meanwhile, Spar Scotland wholesaler and c-store operator CJ Lang has been honoured for its work with young people.

The company received an Outstanding Commitment Award from grassroots specialist youth work provider Helm at an event at the V&A Dundee.
