DISTELL International has created two new additions to its Black Bottle Alchemy Series.
Black Bottle Andean Oak and Black Bottle Smoke & Dagger join the limited edition series. ABVs for both sit at 46.3% with RRPs of £28 per 700ml bottle.
Black Bottle said Andean Oak marks the first Scotch whisky to have virgin Andean Oak casks at the heart of its recipe, which the firm said gives the expression more spice than its American Oak counterpart. As such, tasting notes for the blend have been described as spiced stone fruits, vanilla pod and smoked almonds.
Smoke & Dagger has been made by combining smoother malts with a highly-peated Moine, Black Bottle said, resulting in a whisky that “delivers a powerfully peaty taste”.
These two releases are the lastest in Black Bottle’s more experimental Alchemy Series, which launched last year with Double Cask and Island Smoke, which have both gone on to scoop up a number of awards since launch.
Julieann Fernandez, master blender at Black Bottle, said: “Fearless experimentation is so important to Black Bottle and this year’s new expressions perfectly capture that ethos.
“We pushed ourselves this year to try something never attempted before in whisky and couldn’t be happier.
“Both expressions offer drinkers the opportunity to explore the world of smoky whisky in new and exciting ways.”
