Expansion in St Andrews

Costcutter operator invests to grow shop appeal

The revamped Costcutter in St Andrews represents a £250,000 investment.

FOLLOWING a three month refurbishment, Anila Anwar has re-opened her Costcutter c-store in St Andrews.

Anila has owned and operated the store for 18 years, having taken it over from her father who bought the store 40 years ago.

Her latest £250,000 investment has seen her extend the store frontage and increase the floor space by more than a third to 1,900 square feet.

Reacting to shopper data from Costcutter, the refurbished store now includes hot food to go from an in-house bakery, as well as an extended craft ales and lagers, wines and spirits offer.

As well as stocking Co-op own-brand products, the store also offers gelato from its Fwip machine and slushies from a Snowshock Fizzee machine.

Facilities include an ATM, PayPoint and Lottery services.

Anila said: “We’re now in a position where we can offer shoppers everything they need for a weekly shop and so much more, right on their doorstep. Feedback has been incredibly positive, which makes all the upheaval worthwhile.”
