Italian sandwich is food to go winner
CELEBRATION is top of the menu at Scotmid after winning a prize for one of the varieties in its pizza sandwich range.
The prosciutto, mozzarella and rocket version was named winner in the New Food to Go category at this year’s Sammies Awards.
The winning product is made of prosciutto dried ham on a bed of rocket leaf salad, topped with balls of fresh cow’s mozzarella, layered between two thin slices of authentic, hand-stretched Rome-style sourdough pizza base. It can be served hot or cold.
Food to go operations manager at Scotmid, Danny Scobie, said: “Being recognised by The Sammies Awards is a massive boost for our food to go service.
“At Scotmid, we take great pride in providing delicious, convenient, and good value products to our customers and we nominated our Prosciutto, Mozzarella and Rocket Pizza sandwich for the award because we feel it really demonstrates that.”
As well as the prize-winning variety, the Pizza Sandwich range also includes Italian Salami & Smoked Cheese and Tomato, Mozzarella and Rocket versions.
They are currently available at three stores and the group now has plans to roll-out to more stores following this latest success.
