COSTCUTTER Supermarket Group (CSG) has urged its retailers to embrace technology like contactless payment and self-service tills.
The firm said that sales were being lost when customers were unwilling to queue – an issue that could be solved by using faster payment technology.
Dave Morris, director of IT at CSG, said one Costcutter store that installed self-service tills saw its peak time queuing reduced, its transactions up by 22% and a 12% increase in sales.
“The sheer simplicity in adopting electronic payment methods has been a major positive over the past 12 months,” Morris said.
“No longer are complex integrations required and the ability to optimise new payment methods has been delivered efficiently for retailers.”
