GLASGOW-based spirits producer Whyte and Mackay has bolstered its premium portfolio with the launch of a new premium blend and a facelift for an old favourite.
The latest addition to the Whyte and Mackay whisky portfolio, The Woodsman, is matured using a mix of freshly-built oak casks sourced from Ohio and ex-Bourbon barrels.
Whyte & Mackay has said its new premium blend is ideal for “up-tempo occasions”, and the new brand is targeted at bringing younger adult drinkers into the Scotch whisky category as part of a wider brand push.
Global marketing director Steven Pearson said: “The Woodsman is a real category disrupter and we’re thrilled to bring this exciting modern spirit to the market.”
The Woodsman 70cl has an ABV of 40% and an RRP of £28.
Whyte & Mackay has also given Highland single malt Fettercairn a facelift.
Four expressions of Fettercairn – 12, 28, 40 and 50 Year Old varieties – are now available in a redesigned bottle.
Steven Pearson said, “Fettercairn is a brand not only with a wealth of great aged and rare whisky, but one with a great story to tell.
“We have been sitting on our stocks for a number of years, waiting for the right time to bring this exceptional whisky to market and succeed in the competitive world of single malts.”
