Nominees revealed for gin awards

This years’ winning gins will be selected by a judging panel of 22 industry experts

SCOTTISH gins continue to make waves in the off-trade, and the success of the nation’s distillers will be recognised again at the second annual Scottish Gin Awards this autumn.

Nominations have been announced for the gala event to be held in Glasgow this September, with over 46 producers and 80 gins up for a prize.

Following on from the success of the inaugural ceremony, organisers KD Media have created 18 categories to reward the very best gins and producers across the country.

The shortlisted finalists will now face judging from a panel of experts, who will blind taste each gin before making their decision.

Alex Bruce, chair of the judging panel and managing director of Adelphi Distillery said: “Chairing the judging panel of the Scottish Gin Awards has been a huge privilege.

“To see such growth in the programme this year is a testament to the strength of the Scottish Gin sector and the importance of its contribution to our economy.

“I wish all the entrants the best of luck in the competition.”

Categories for gin products include Gin of the Year, sponsored by Vertro Vetroelite, London Dry Gin of the Year, in association with premium soft drinks brand Franklin & Sons, and Distilled Gin of the Year in association with Aldi.

Other awards up for grabs on the night include Innovation of the Year, Best Newcomer and Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year.
