SPAR UK is refreshing its own-label dry pasta range. A new 1kg Fusilli pack, designed to provide customers with a ‘better value’ alternative is to be introduced, while the existing £1 price-mark will be removed from the range and replaced with an RRP of 68p.
“New packaging will also be phased in over the coming months, with an improved range design creating a strong look and feel on shelves, highlighting the products’ quality and Italian provenance,” said Joanne Cramer, Spar UK brand manager (grocery). “The new packs will also allow for upright merchandising.”
• Garofalo, the premium pasta maker from Gragnano, Italy has added Macaroni to its range of pasta shapes.
Macaroni is not a shape usually found in Italy, the company says, but it has been added to its extensive range especially for the UK market due to its popularity here.
• Kraft Heinz reckons pasta is an enduringly popular evening meal in the UK, especially for families, but it’s looking to add some fun to family meals.
As well as children’s TV and comic character-linked microwaveable pasta Duo Pots range (see story on the panel on this page), the company has launched a new range of dry pasta shapes featuring licensed characters from some favourite children’s films and TV shows.
The new shapes are available in four characters, three of which have accompanying sauces: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: DC Super Friends featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman; Despicable Me Minions; and Peppa Pig pasta shapes.
Brook Aspden, brand manager, Heinz, said: “With the new launch expected to deliver significant incremental growth to the category, now is the perfect time to add Heinz Pasta Shapes and Sauces to your product offering.”
