It’s US Independence Day next month and there are now many American treats available in the UK
AMERICAN confectionery has been growing in popularity in the UK, aided in part by its prominence in movies and TV shows. Many Scottish consumers are keen, it seems, to try some of the brands they see on screen.
Now companies such as American food wholesaler Innovative Bites are making it possible for all types of retailer to offer US products like Twinkies and Warheads.
“It’s a category which was initially only found at specialist sweet shops or famous department stores, but as time has gone on the range has become more accessible, popular and affordable,” said brand and marketing manager Haris Deane.
“Affordability has been a key factor in this category’s success story, making the products affordable to children with their pocket money and to families on a budget. There are such a variety of products available now, there’s something that will suit every retailer’s range and budget.
“The variety of products, brands and pack sizes make it possible to retail certain lines for as little as 40p. The multiples are starting to see the benefits of selling American foods and confectionery in their stores and the stock is performing exceptionally well.”
Deane reckons American holidays like 4 July add extra excitement and are a good opportunity to showcase the range.
“With a number of brands available from ourselves including exclusive brands like Cookie Dough Bites, and one of the fastest selling brands in sour confectionery, WarHeads, we have the skills and resource to create tailor-made ranges for any size of retailer from a one-shelf plan to multiple bays,” he said.
Innovative Bites also has exclusive rights to Boylan, a premium range of authentic American soft drinks including Root Beer, one of the most popular soft drinks in the US, and Crème soda.
