NATIONAL Lottery operator Camelot is to give retailers who currently have Scratchcard-only terminals the opportunity to sell tickets for National Lottery draw-based games, such as Lotto and EuroMillions.
The move could add up to 9,000 retail outlets to the 37,000 who offer draw games.
Last year, Camelot rolled out 10,000 standalone National Lottery Scratchcard terminals to stores across the UK mostly to small, independent stores. A Camelot spokesperson told Scottish Grocer: “We will be providing retailers who currently have standalone Scratchcard terminals the opportunity to sell tickets for National Lottery draw-based games, such as Lotto and EuroMillions, through their current terminals from early next year. This will be possible with the installation of a printer and software upgrade, and will cost £50 per month, including VAT. This compares with £25 per month for selling National Lottery Scratchcards only.”
The £50 a month will include: the terminal; a printer; a software upgrade; network/mobile connectivity costs; a National Lottery stand and play slips; a new window vinyl, poster frame and external floor sign; point-of-sale materials for specific campaigns and event draws; retailer training and support; and automatic inventory replenishment.
Retailers who sign-up to sell National Lottery games through their Scratchcard terminals will continue to earn 6% commission per Scratchcard plus 5% commission per National Lottery ticket. Camelot will be contacting all Scratchcard-only retailers over coming months.
