NEW Covent Garden Soup Co has launched a range of four Skinny Soups designed to appeal to health-conscious consumers looking for a warming winter soup that can be made quickly.
To make sure shoppers get the health message, the Skinny soup cartons carry traffic light-style nutritional info on the front of the pack, plus a message saying the product contains two of the recommended five a day fruit and veg portions, plus a message that it has less than 2% fat.
Skinny Soups come in four flavours, Souper Green with Italian Basil Pesto, Goan Spiced Chicken and Lentils, Quinoa and Turtle Beans with Chilli and Lime, and Tomato, Vegetables and Green Lentils.
The company reckons the range will help retailers capitalise on soup sales during the January period when consumers might be dieting after Christmas.
New Covent Garden Soup has also redesigned the packaging of its main range and added screw caps to its 700g cartons. And it has changed the way its soups are made – by using British ingredients and streamlining the cooking process.
Rob Dixon, marketing controller said: “This is an extremely exciting time for New Covent Garden Soup. These developments reinforce our position as category innovators.”
