MORRISONS, the last of the big four supermarkets to move into convenience, has now opened 50 M Local outlets. The company plans to have 100 c-stores, with a typical square footage of around 3000sq ft, half of which is given to fresh food, and around 20 staff, open by the end of the year.
In Scotland, the first M Local has opened in Kilmarnock. Another three – in Countesswells Road in Aberdeen and Edinburgh’s Gorgie Road and Shandwick Place – are scheduled to open by the end of the month.
The Kilmarnock store is in Titchfield Street, opposite the town’s Galleon Leisure Centre. It is open from 7am-11pm every day, selling hot drinks, hot takeaway food and freshly baked bread as well as fresh food and groceries.
