IT was a remarkable performance by any measure.
In August last year the newly-built Spar store in the central Scotland town of Tullibody opened its doors for the first time. In the early new year it was visited by Scottish Grocer Awards judges on the search for the Scottish Grocer Cider Retailer of the Year. And in mid March TV and stage star Denise Van Outen announced that the store had taken the title.
Spar Tulllibody has since participated in the Spar Cider Festival and has been perfecting its approach to cider, which sees it make exceptional use of chiller space and work hard to understand how the social life of the local area can affect sales patterns.
