GERMAN confectionery company Coppenrath & Wiese is set to develop the branded frozen desserts category during 2013 with a £3.5m brand marketing campaign and a range of new products.

The category is currently worth over £190m, with 70% of sales from own-label. Coppenrath & Wiese has a 9% market share.
The company’s Bernard Maher said: “The time is right for a brand to develop the category. There is a real opportunity to invest, innovate and drive frozen dessert sales.
“Our products maintain their integrity from shop to home, and are great value for money. They also offer convenience. People can buy them mid-week for a weekend treat.”
