Partnership competition to support local rugby clubhouses

WHIKSY brand The Famous Grouse has backed grassroots rugby clubs across Scotland with the introduction of its new funding initiative to support local clubs.
Delivered in partnership with Scottish Rugby, the Scotland-wide campaign is inviting local rugby clubs to share what makes their clubhouse special to them and the wider community to be in with the chance of securing funding towards a transformation of the clubhouse.
One winning club will receive a grant of £10,000 to invest into the clubhouse and help create a space that continues to serve its players, volunteers, supporters and wider community members for years to come. Two runners-up will also receive a cash prize of £2,500 each to go towards the same cause.
The new competition has helped to mark the ongoing partnership between Scottish Rugby and The Famous Grouse, which has now been running for over 35 years and helping to shine a light on the sport across the whole of the country.
Through the new Characterful Clubhouse campaign, The Famous Grouse will be moving this light directly onto local clubs to help rugby to thrive across Scotland and invest in spaces where teams gather on a more local level.
Applications are open now and will close on 3 November, with the winners of the cash prizes set to be announced in late November.
Karen Daly, marketing manager at The Famous Grouse, said: “For generations, rugby clubhouses have been at the heart of so many communities across Scotland. They’re places where people come together to celebrate, volunteer, share stories and support their club.
“Through Characterful Clubhouse, we want to recognise the contribution local rugby clubs make on and off the pitch. We’re really looking forward to hearing the stories that make each clubhouse unique and importantly, helping clubs invest in spaces that can continue serving their communities for years to come.”
