Retail chain Co-op has opened its doors once again in Bridge of Allan with its from-the-ground-up refurbishment of the local store.

RETAIL chain Co-op has opened its doors in Bridge of Allan once again following a multi-million-pound investment to transform the store.

The £5million redevelopment of the Bridge of Allan site saw the former store – which was located in a former converted garage – completely knocked down and replaced with a new 10,000 sq. ft. retail and back-of-shop space across two floors.

The extensive redevelopment sought to provide the local community with a modern, purpose-built store that can keep up with the demands of the modern day consumer. Behind-the-scenes, the store also offers new facilities for colleague wellbeing as well as enhanced storage elements to help promote product availability and resilience.

The store is open between 7am-10pm daily and supports over 20 local jobs. Services at the store include a Costa Coffee Express machine, a hot food counter – including a serve-over counter from Fife-based Stephens Bakery, keycutting and a photo booth along with a free-to-use ATM machine.

Shoppers can also benefit from online home-delivery through the store made possible through Co-op’s delivery partners, with orders picked fresh in the local store.

And to support accessibility to the store, the customer car park has also been enhanced with resurfacing work and additional spaces, with EV charging also set to be introduced in the coming weeks.

This newly refurbished store makes up part of the Co-op’s ongoing plan to open new stores across the whole of the UK after the chain said it planned to open 24 new stores by the end of June this year.

Andy Baird, Co-op’s divisional operations director, said: “We are delighted to invest in Bridge of Allan – the whole team is excited to now be welcoming the community into their brand new Co-op, the new store looks fantastic. We are so grateful for all the support from the community throughout the works.

“We have invested to develop a store for Bridge of Allan which is fit for the future, our aim is to have created a hub contributing to local life and meeting the needs of our community and visitors to the area.

“We have a focus on offering quality products, value and choice that can be enjoyed by everyone along with a range of added services.

“We’re proud to serve Bridge of Allan, and we are now enjoying welcoming the community as they pop into their new Co-op. We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community.”
