Spar UK MD set to leave the business this year

RETAIL symbol group Spar UK has announced its managing director Michael Fletcher has chosen to leave the business at the beginning of November.
Fletcher will officially step away from his day-to-day responsibilities at the end of August before leaving the business in November. Spar UK has announced that Jerome Saint-Marc will become the new managing director, with effect from 17 August.
Fletcher first joined Spar UK in November 2024 and led the Spar Central Office team though a significant phase of change. The Spar Food Distributors (SFD) Board has sent its thanks to Fletcher for his leadership and contribution during this time as the business wished him luck for the future.
Saint-Marc moves into the new position as MD of Spar UK with 30 years worth of experience across retail and the wider supply chain, having held roles across Tesco, Morrisons, Wilko and, most recently, with the Co-op.
In addition to the change in leadership, Martin Agnew has taken on the role as chair of the SFD Board and succeeds Nick Bunker, who recently stepped down from the position.
A spokesperson for Spar UK said: “The SFD Board remains fully committed to delivering SPAR UK’s strategic priorities. Its focus continues to be on strengthening Central Office, supporting the four RDCs and helping independent SPAR retailers grow their businesses. These leadership changes do not alter that commitment.”
