Partick retailer congratulated for representing the sector
PARTICK store owner Nathalie Fullerton has received a parliamentary commendation for her work representing the convenience retail sector in Scotland.
Nathalie has been awarded with an Early Day Motion (EDM) by Patricia Ferguson MP to congratulate the store owner on her new appointment as national deputy vice president of the Federation for Independent Retailers (the Fed).
Ferguson MP said: “I would like to congratulate Nathalie again for all her advocacy for retailers. I look forward to working further with the Fed and her in the future.”
Ferguson presented Nathalie with the parliamentary motion at her Go Local Partick store earlier this month, which stated “her appointment is a reflection of the hard work and leadership on behalf of independent retailers”.
Additionally, the EDM recognised Nathalie’s ongoing work with Women in Convenience and helping to “drive real change for women across the retail sector”.
As part of the presentation, Nathalie also had the chance to speak to the MP about numerous concerns facing convenience store retailers along with what opportunities lie on the horizon for many small store operators including the introduction of the deposit return scheme in October 2027.
The meeting also touched on areas of worry for members of the Fed in Scotland, particularly relating to retail crime and rogue traders and how this is impacting on retailers across the country. Nathalie shared her own experiences in this regard and discussed her role on the advisory board of Police Scotland’s Retail Crime Taskforce.
Speaking on the commendation, Nathalie said: “It was a very positive and useful discussion and the Fed looks forward to working more closely with Patricia in Westminster whilst continuing our work in the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood as well.”
