Aberdeenshire store Spar Kincorth recently played host to north eastern radio station Original 106 with its Breakfast Show taking place inside the store.

ABERDEEENSHIRE convenience store Spar Kincorth played host for north eastern radio station Original 106 for its award-winning Breakfast Show.

The live broadcast took place in-store on 30 June and brought its music, local conversation and competitions directly to locals in the Kincorth area. The station is widely recognised as one of the leading commercial radio stations in the region, with its breakfast programme also enjoying some strong local support from loyal fans.

To celebrate the event, Spar Kincorth donated £200 worth of Spar vouchers to the local foodbank. This was topped up on top of massive trolleys that were piled up with goodies found across the store collected by radio hosts Claire and Pete who did a supermarket sweep-style collection across the store.

Furthermore, the first 50 customers who entered the store during the broadcast also enjoyed a free voucher for a breakfast roll and Barista Bar hot drink. Not only did the initiative offer customers the chance to enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast in-store, but it also introduced them to the rewards and exclusive offers found across the Barista Bar loyalty app.

In addition to this, local charity Champion Street Football received a £500 donation with the contribution set to go towards its ongoing work of connecting with people by using football as a tool to inspire and support locals in the area.

Spar Scotland has noted that the live broadcast has highlighted Spar Kincorth’s connection to the local area and its commitment to customers while celebrating local businesses and other organisations.

Paula Middleton, head of marketing at Spar Scotland, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Original 106 to our store and see so many customers joining us for the live broadcast.

“We were delighted to reward our first 50 customers with a free breakfast and introduce them to the benefits of the Barista Bar Loyalty App.

“At the same time, we were proud to make donations to the local foodbank and Champion Street Football, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the local community.”
