Luxardo introduces new sustainable bottle for Limoncello

Fresh design comes just in time for the summer months

The 2026 redesign for Luxardo Limoncello stands on a table next to a wine glass with a cocktail serve in it and lemons have been placed around the two with a lemon tree hanging above them.
Italian liqueur brand Luxardo has unveiled a new bottle design for its Limoncello serve in a bid to deliver a more eco-friendly fluted design in time for summer.

ITALIAN liqueur brand Luxardo has unveiled a new bottle design for its Limoncello in a bid to deliver a more eco-friendly bottle to consumers.

Dropping just in time for the summer months, the Luxardo Limoncello bottle has traded its traditional frosted glass bottle for a sleek, vertically fluted design that the firm has said will elevate its premium aesthetic while significantly shrinking its carbon footprint.

The liquid inside the bottle remains unchanged and continues to be crafted using the Luxardo family’s original 1905 recipe.

Nicolò Luxardo, seventh generation family member, said: “In terms of the redesign, the idea was to refresh the packaging while keeping the bottle immediately recognisable as Luxardo Limoncello.

“The overall shape and label architecture remains very close to the previous version, but we removed the frosted glass finish and introduced vertical fluting to give the bottle a more premium and textured look.

“An additional benefit of the redesign is improved packaging efficiency. Based on the LCA assessment carried out by our manufacturer, the new bottle shows measurable reductions across several environmental impact indicators versus the previous version, including lower fossil fuel use, lower CO2 impact and lower water consumption across all formats and configurations.

“The removal of the frosting process and the optimisation of the glass structure both contributed positively during the evaluation phase, while also simplifying the production process, improving supply chain reliability and helping reduce lead times.”

Luxardo has said that the new design will prove that luxury and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand and the new Limoncello design has done so by removing the energy intensive chemical frosting process and optimising the integrity of the glass bottle itself.

Luxardo Limoncello is available across the wholesale and retail channels with an RRP of £21.99 per 700ml bottle and comes bottled at 27% ABV.

Seymour Ferreira, chief executive at UK distributor Chimera Brand Development, said: “With Summer 2026 upon us, Limoncello Spritz is set to be one of the drinks of the season.

“The elevated new design of Luxardo Limoncello’s bottle will help the brand stand out both on the back bar and amidst the home bar.”
