Spar Whitletts shopper pockets £10k grand prize

SPAR Scotland has announced the winner of its £10,000 grand prize as part of its Spin into Spring seasonal promotion.
Alex McAughtrie, a local shopper to Spar Whitletts, has scooped up the massive £10,000 after taking part in the Scotland-wide competition.
Speaking on his win, Alex said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out—I had to double-check it was real. I shop at SPAR Whitletts all the time, so to win something like this is just incredible. It’s going to make such a big difference.
“I’ll be renewing my season ticket at my beloved Ayr United and I’m looking forward to celebrating my daughter’s 40th birthday in style later this year.”
The gamification promotion ran between 12 March to 22 April and offered Spar shoppers the chance to bag some free products or money-off vouchers as part of the promotion.
In addition to these prizes, the nationwide campaign offered shoppers the chance to bag a grand prize of £10,000.
The Spin into Spring promotion turned out a massive success for the Spar Scotland, according to CJ Lang & Son – the wholesaler behind the Scottish symbol chain. The wholesaler reported that thousands of customers across Scotland took part of the competition across Spar stores.
Building on this success, CJ Lang has now confirmed it plans to continue to deliver innovative promotions for the Spar Scotland fascia to bring in added excitement to consumers and drive footfall for Spar retailers.
Colin McLean, chief executive at Spar Scotland, said: “We’re thrilled with the response to our ‘Spin into Spring’ campaign. It’s been fantastic to see so many customers getting involved and enjoying the experience. Congratulations to our £10,000 winner – what an amazing way to end this hugely successful gamification campaign.”
