SUPERMARKET chain Aldi has vowed to continue its expansion in Scotland, with plans to invest more than £40million over the next two years.

The discounter says it will open three new stores – in Arbroath, Kirkintilloch and Baillieston, Glasgow – during 2025.

In addition, an extension is planned for its Galashiels store, with refurbishments scheduled for the Linlithgow, Glenrothes, Stirling, Hamilton and Carluke outlets during the next two years.

This year, Aldi will also launch a recruitment drive for more than 100 new logistics team members to work at its Bathgate regional distribution centre.

Aldi has become known for its partnerships with Scotland’s food and drink producers, and the retailer currently works with more than 90 suppliers north of the border and stocks more than 450 Scottish products.

Indeed, Aldi was commended at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2024, picking up the Best for Scottish Award, which celebrates retailers’ sourcing of quality Scottish products, for the third time in four years.

Aldi Scotland says it is also committed to giving back to local communities. In 2024, the supermarket donated more than £50,000 to amateur sports clubs via its Scottish Sport Fund and over £10,000 to foodbanks through its popular Supermarket Sweep initiative. Both initiatives are returning this year.

And Kantar data has found that more than 60% of households in Scotland shop at Aldi.
