Spar Scotland marked the installation of 20 Barista Bar services on 21 June with an hour of free hot drinks and a party in Spar Halbeath.

SPAR Scotland has marked a milestone for its Barista Bar initiative as the symbol rolls out the coffee service to 20 of its company-owned stores.

In celebration of this, Spar Scotland wholesaler CJ Lang & Son Ltd treated Barista Bar customers to an array of festivities, including an hour of complimentary hot drinks from the service across all 20 of the new Barista Bar locations.

Customers across the 20 locations were treated to free hot drinks between 9am and 10am on Friday 21 June, bringing an extra boost to their days in doing so.

Stephen Brown, head of food-to-go at Spar Scotland, said: “The addition of Barista Bar, currently exclusive in Scotland to Spar, significantly enhances our food-to-go offering while providing a high-quality product at a competitive price.

“We’re delighted so many of our customers have embraced the brand, and it compliments well with some of our local products, such as our bakery ranges.

“The success is flowing through to our independent retailers too, many of whom are also signing on to join the Barista Bar journey.”

Further to this, Spar Halbeath – which rolled out its Barista Bar service in February of this year – brought the party spirit for the celebrations with customers treated to free hot rolls along with their coffee on the day along with a raft of other goodies.

These included free samples of Brownings the Bakers‘ new Tartan Army Pies, complimentary Marie Curie biscuits provided by Stuart’s Bakers & Butchers as well as the chance to spin Spar Scotland’s famous wheel to win extra goodies including vouchers, Spar-branded products and Barista Bar themed goodies.

As part of the event as well, Spar Scotland made notable donations to three different charities including £500 to Marie Curie as well as a further £500 each to the two local-to-Halbeath charities Touch Trust and the Halbeath Tenants and Residents Association.

Natasha Dick, senior marketing executive at Spar Scotland, said: “The successful rollout of Barista Bar across our stores represents a significant enhancement to the Spar Scotland experience.

“Hopefully many got to try Barista Bar for the first time on Friday for free and it was a great way for us to say ‘thank you’ to the customers who have supported us so far.”
