Scottish Guild roars at the top of Spar UK conference
THE Spar Scotland Scottish Guild for Spar UK has been crowned the king of the UK’s Spar regional guilds at the Spar UK Conference this year.
As part of the Spar UK 2024 Conference – which took place in Sun City, South Africa – the Scottish Guild came out on top in the fiercely competitive biennial Spar Guild Challenge.
The contest looks to the hard graft that all five of the Spar UK regional guilds have put in since the previous Spar UK Conference, with the Scottish Guild coming out on top and taking home the Mark Gillett Award for Endeavour.
The Spar UK Conference takes place every two years and sees Spar retailers and their families from across the entire UK come together to celebrate the symbol group as well as open the door for new opportunities in partnerships and business investments.
Held in different cities across the world, the Spar UK Conference 2024 took place in Sun City, South Africa this time around between 12-16 March.
The event, at The Palace of the Lost City, brought together a record number of UK professionals across Spar and the wider UK convenience sector to provide insights, collaborations and charity initiatives for the channel.
Dominic Hall, chair of the National Guild of Spar, said: “We are thrilled to have hosted such an exceptional business conference in Sun City.
“The energy and enthusiasm presented by all our attendees on driving the Spar business forward emphasised the importance of having such an event.
“Together, we explored how Spar is winning in convenience and the opportunities available for future growth and success.
“Throughout the conference, attendees learned about a number of topics spanning technology, foodservice, marketing, digital, brand ownership, supplier partnerships and beyond.
“We had speakers share their insights and experiences, showing our audience how to navigate their way through the ever-changing convenience landscape with confidence and energy.”
