SPAR Scotland celebrated its latest three store relaunches with big giveaways to local good causes and shoppers.

The symbol group marked the reopening of the store on Ballindean Road, Dundee, with two £500 donations to Douglas Community Centre and St Pius X Primary School.

And £800 of Spar vouchers went to St Pius and Claypotts Primary summer breakfast camps.

The reopening of Spar Newhouse Road, in Grangemouth, saw £500 cheques and £500 worth of Spar vouchers going to NU2U Furniture and Food Project and the local Rotary Club.

The store team also donated £500 worth of Spar vouchers to the Grangemouth Saturday Lunch Club.

And the relaunch of the Spar in East Wemyss, Fife, led to Wemyss Improvement Group receiving a £500 cheque.

At all relaunch events, shoppers were treated to 100 goody bags and prizes including Spar vouchers, merchandise from Barr, F’real and Rollover, and Swizzels products.

Stuart’s the Bakers provided tasty free samples and there were a host of special offers.

Spar Scotland company owned stores boss Steven Irons said: “We’re always keen to give back to groups in the communities where our stores are based.”

EXHIBITOR space at Scottish Spar wholesaler CJ Lang’s annual trade show and conference has sold out – with 200 FMCG suppliers attending the event in Aviemore on 28 September.

Chief exec Colin McLean said: “We are grateful to all our suppliers who are supporting us in many ways at this event. It’s exciting to see the exhibitor space already full.

“That gives us confidence that suppliers feel they get value for their money and ensuring they have a productive time at this business-focused event is important to us.

“Delegate numbers are huge and we are looking forward to having the opportunity to tell everyone about what has happened in our business over the last 12 months and highlight some of our future plans.”

Judging is also under way for the Spar Scotland Awards – with the winners announced at a gala dinner on the night.
