“To improve and build on their offering is crucial in this current climate. Independents should look at offering a great choice of premium products with a link-save to deals, for example with beer and pizza.

“By positioning beer in the chilled section alongside food, retailers will capitalise on impulse purchases from those also looking for the ‘at-home’ experience.”
