ON-TREND and relevant new flavours are significant growth drivers in chocolate, according to Mondelez International.

And whether it is salted or caramelised white, Nielsen data shows that caramel is the number one best-selling chocolate flavour. Mondelez are capitalising on the trend with a new product.

Trade communications manager Susan Nash said: “Cadbury has unveiled a new limited edition flavour for its popular Wispa Gold range: Salted Caramel.

“The new flavour is available to order in a single 45g bar now, helping retailers to drive confectionery sales with this beloved flavour.”

The firm has also been innovating within caramelised white chocolate, and Cadbury Caramilk was a hit with shoppers when it launched.

“Last April, we expanded the Caramilk range to offer shoppers the beautifully crafted golden caramel chocolate in Buttons format – perfect for sharing occasions,” said Nash.

Responding to the popularity of plant-based alternatives, the Cadbury Plant Bar has also been rolled out nationwide.
