Funds fuel expansion

£120k for Scottish vermouth

A SCOTTISH vermouth maker has secured £120,000 worth of investment through a crowd funding campaign.

Tait Bros successfully secured the funds through a campaign for its Valentian Vermouths brand, which attracted more than 170 investors.

Valentian Vermouth’s crowdfunded war chest is being used to finance construction of a new site in the Scottish Borders, increased staffing and new product development.

Plans for the new Borders site include facilities for small batch production, as well as a licensed bar, taproom and ‘experimentation studio’.

Founded by brothers Dominic and David Tait, Valentian Vermouth has secured two Scottish national wholesale listings and can also be found on the gantry in a clutch of premium cocktail bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Dominic Tait commented on the investment. “The response to our crowdfunder has been beyond anything we could have hoped for, and it’s an incredible feeling to see so many people put their faith – and money – in Valentian Vermouth.

“Consumers are getting behind us too, with sales strong, and the response from buyers has been fantastic.”
