M&S goes big on Scottish produce

SCOTTISH Food & Drink Fortnight is in full swing across the country and Marks and Spencer has been boosting the profile of local produce across its stores.

M&S is offering free samples of suppliers’ products in Scottish stores with the chance of meeting local suppliers Associated Seafoods and Dawnfresh, who supply M&S’s Scottish Salmon and Trout.

David Bates, regional manager for Scotland at M&S, said the retailer’s support for  Scottish Food & Drink fortnight includes in-store tastings and a major point-of-sale presence signposting the event.

“We will also be publishing a special Scottish-themed edition of our What’s Fresh magazine for customers to pick up in-store, featuring some of our fantastic Scottish suppliers from M&S Select Farmers,” he said.

Scottish customers involved in the M&S Sparks loyalty scheme are also being offered exclusive deals, including 10% off Scottish products such as shortbread, trout and salmon, honey, porridge oats, haggis, oatcakes and oat biscuits.

Bates added: “We have worked with brilliant suppliers across Scotland for over 100 years to bring our customers the very best the country has to offer all year round.

“This year’s campaign shines a spotlight on the lengths these suppliers go to across the country to deliver exceptional quality M&S Food, during one of the biggest events in Scotland’s food and drink calendar.”
