United Wholesale (Scotland) has carried out an intensive disinfecting programme across its three depots and head office in response to the rise in Scottish Covid-19 cases.
The wholesaler recruited PSS Group to carry out deep clean and disinfectant work using the firm’s bio-fogging technology, which sterilises surfaces by coating them with an anti-bacterial mist. UWS previously recruited PSS Group to carry out similar work in May and the firm’s technology has also been used in hospital settings.
Chris Gallacher, managing director at UWS, confirmed that a number of the wholesaler’s retail customers are expected to carry out bio-fogging cleaning in their stores.
Gallacher said: “The safety of our workforce and customers has always been our number once concern throughout the pandemic, which is why we implemented bio-fogging for the first time earlier this year.
“But with coronavirus concerns growing once more we felt that it was important that we respond positively and proactively so we have decided to repeat the bio-fogging process once more across our depots and head office.
“We want to do everything we can to not only protect our workforce and customers, but to help drive down coronavirus cases and care for our NHS. Deep cleaning is a sensible plan for all businesses. I would encourage all wholesale and retail groups to carry out this procedure.”
UWS customer Naveed Amjed of Day Today Elitre, Varndorffs Way, welcomed the move: “Its fantastic to see UWS taking the safety of customers and staff to another level. This deep clean has given me confidence to shop without thinking about the worry that Covid has brought to the nation.”
