A CONVENIENCE store retailer has had his gantry removed by Imperial after being caught in possession of counterfeit tobacco.
Zainul Chandia, of Northgate News in Blackburn, was convicted after a Trading Standards raid found over 100 packets of fake cigarettes, and over 40 pouches of illicit rolling tobacco.
Imperial Tobacco removed Chandia’s gantry as a result of him violating the terms and conditions of his contract, with the firm’s anti-illicit trade manager James Hall, warning that illegal trade “will not be tolerated.”
He urged retailers to report any illicit activity.
