THERE’S plenty of reasons for shoppers to treat themselves this autumn, according to Coppenrath & Wiese, and the firm has highlighted a number of opportunities for retailers to whet appetites with frozen desserts.

The firm has pointed to the success of hits such as the Great British Bake Off as a television event which retailers can use as a springboard for frozen cake sales.

Lisa Bahre, NPD co-ordinator for Coppenrath & Wiese, commented on some of the major events which retailers should keep an eye out for in the coming months.

“With the Football World Cup qualifiers and TV events such as the famous Great British Bake Off approaching, this provides the perfect opportunity for retailers to encourage consumers with promotions to entertain guests with quick and easy solutions that take minimal preparation.

“A frozen dessert makes it all the more convenient to entertain groups of friends or the family for an evening. Gateaux and cheesecakes are the most popular options and account for 42.4% of the frozen desserts category. They should therefore form the basis of any dessert offer.”
