Bread, but not as we know it

CONSUMERS watching their carbohydrate intake may be tempted to turn to Hovis as the bread brand has rolled out a new low-carb range.

The new Hovis Lower Carb range includes three loaves; white, wholemeal, and seeded, with RRPs of £1, £1, and £1.10 respectively.

Ed Milner, marketing strategy and planning director for Hovis, said: “Using our quality flour our expert bakers have removed 30% of the carbs normally found within an ordinary loaf of bread and added wheat protein and fibre to create a great-tasting range of loaves.

“This means the new Hovis Lower Carb loaves are also high in fibre and protein, and because they’re still made with wheat, they can offer consumers deliciously lower-carb alternatives to their favourite Hovis loaves.”

The launch of Hovis Lower Carb follows a high-profile movie tie-in for the brand.

This summer, Hovis has teamed up with Universal Pictures for the release of the animated, family-friendly Despicable Me 3.

The partnership sees Hovis running an on-pack promotion across its Best of Both and Soft White range with prizes on offer including a family holiday to New York. Support for the campaign includes Despicable Me 3 branded POS.
