Sainsbury’s considering P&H deal?

Sainsbury’s is rumoured to be exploring a takeover bid for delivered wholesaler Palmer & Harvey, in a move to meet the combined power of Tesco-Booker.

Quoting a “Sainsbury’s insider”, Sky News has reported that the supermarket is in the early stages of examining a bid, though this would be “difficult” due to P&H’s high levels of debt.
Imperial Tobacco and JTI are also rumoured to be potential purchasers for the company, which was put up for sale last month.
