DRINKS firm Whyte & Mackay has celebrated the birthday of its Speyside distillery Tamnavulin by releasing a new whisky ahead of the important Christmas gift buying season.
It’s Tamnavulin’s 50th anniversary year and the autumn release marks the first opportunity for more than 20 years for whisky fans to discover the whisky, the company said.
The new release is expected to sell at around £32 a bottle.
Tamnavulin is matured in American oak barrels and finished in sherry casks. And Whyte & Mackay reckons that, thanks to new stills that were installed during the distillery’s renovation in 2007, the new release has a richer taste than some consumers may remember.
The bottle is packed in a carton featuring an image of the brand’s mill and the coat of arms granted to the distillery in 1977.
Stephen Watt, off-trade sales director, said: “This is the perfect time to offer customers something new to drink, from an undiscovered distillery in the stunning setting of Speyside.
“This new release will meet the needs of consumers in terms of flavour, innovation and price point.”
