Marking 10,000th licensing success

SCOTLAND’S Rural University College has celebrated the 10,000th candidate to have successfully passed its licensing training course.
Licensing training has been offered at the college, based in the new university campus on the riverside in Ayr, for the past seven years, along with courses on food hygiene.

SRUC-Candidates

“Licensing training might seem an unusual training course to be delivered by an agricultural college but the reason is related to one of SRUC’s flagship degree courses,” said Bill Mackay, lecturer in financial management & business planning. “The BA [Hons] in Rural Business Management specialises in the management of rural diversified industries which have a direct relationship with the sale of food and drink, so the underpinning expertise was already in place.
“SRUC has six campuses – the main campus in Ayr plus campuses in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Dumfries, Broxburn and Cupar. This means that SRUC has the facilities in place to deliver high-quality skills training to businesses in all areas of Scotland.“
