FLAVOURED milk sales grew by 2.2% in the last year to £297m according to Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats. It says chocolate milk has a 32% share of the market. And in summer and at other times retailers might find consumers in search of something extra turning to the flavoured milk category.
Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats general manager Michelle Frost said: “Continued demand and new product development has seen more innovative flavours and specialised milks enter the category.
“The sub-category showing the most growth, at 19.6%, is specialised milk, which now accounts for 22% or £64.6m of total value sales.”
In response Mars introduced Mars High Protein and Snickers High Protein milk drinks to the category last year, each with 22g of protein.
Frost argues the Mars 350ml bottle gives its range, including Galaxy milk, a clear point of difference.
