SPAR UK saw store numbers increase last year, with total outlets increasing by 185 in the six months between May and October 2015 to reach 2,578, the symbol group operator announced last month.
The group said the increase was a result of its strategy to develop modern store formats, development of its Spar own-brand products portfolio, an improved commercial package and a selling plan that delivers sales.
The increase in store numbers included new units that came into the group as existing Spar retail partners added stores as well as from new retail partners joining Spar. National account store numbers also grew and a large number of stores from Euro Garages joined.
Spar UK managing director Debbie Robinson said: “To create this success, we’ve worked tirelessly to develop innovative new store formats, an award-winning own-label product range, a wider breadth of services than ever and it’s paid off.
“We are looking forward to sharing exciting new developments with our retail network in 2016.”
