RETRO-FITTING doors to a store’s existing chiller cabinets and optimising existing equipment is often said to be a straightforward way of improving in-store energy efficiency. Now specialist company Delta Refrigeration can quantify the benefit by highlighting what a retrofitting job that it carried out meant to Londis retailer Barry Seymour and his store in the Yorkshire town of Liversedge.
Delta installed retro-fitted, double-glazed hinged chiller doors at the store at the beginning of this year. The firm also re-commissioned cabinets and supplied and fitted canopy and vertical LED for the retailer.
And it says the results were very positive with the retailer’s bills dropping from £1,600 to £1,099 a month.
Simon Robinson, managing director, Delta Refrigeration, said: “In our opinion, there is no one single solution for every customer, so we make sure that we spend time with retailers like Barry to help them choose the very best door system to suit their individual needs.”
Barrie Seymour said: “The whole experience was really great, with 36 doors and LED fitted by two lads over two days during trading hours.
“The cabinets achieve a much better product temperature and all of my customers are very happy with them. All my staff feel that the store has a more comfortable environment.
“I was also impressed that the fitters acted upon my feedback. I expressed that I get a lot of theft from the fresh meat cabinet and it would be good if an alarm could be fitted to these section doors.
“Within a week or two of the installation, the Delta technical department had devised a wireless solution for me – great service.”
