Shortbread’s coming home

Walkers Shortbread

FAMILY firm Walkers Shortbread is marking Scotland’s Year of Homecoming with a special range focusing on key events and locations of the country’s big year.

The Gleneagles Shortbread Assortment (RRP £3.75) depicts the Perthshire hotel that will play host to the 2014 Ryder Cup. A larger pack celebrates the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, when Robert Bruce, King of Scots, famously led his army to face down the English army. The RRP is £5.25.
Each 320g carton will house a special Homecoming sticker featuring the Saltire, Scotland’s flag.
The company’s Jim Walker said: “Walkers Shortbread is extremely proud to be part of Scotland’s heritage and Homecoming Scotland 2014 is an initiative we support wholly.”
The firm has also added a Mini Scottie Dog sharing bag to its treats range. The development follows the earlier launch of mini Oat Biscuits and mini Belgian Choc Chip Shortbread in 125g bags that took place last year.
RRP will be £1.50.
