Beer firm takes rum speer

IMPORTER Morgenrot has added a 5.3% ABV spirit beer – or “speer” – to its portfolio. Bachata is a lager flavoured with Cuban rum. Pronounced “Ba-cha-ta” the name is based on a style of music fusing Cuban salsa and Afro-Caribbean rhythms.

The company claims that some spirit beers are made with flavourings and syrups but that Bachata uses carefully sourced Cuban rum, which helps deliver a product with a well-balanced flavours, including vanilla and citrus. It comes in 330ml bottles, in outers of 24.
