Horsemeat probe boss named

PROFESSOR Chris Elliott, a food security expert based in Belfast, will lead the independent inquiry into the horsemeat scandal.

Elliot heads the Queen’s Institute for Global Food Security and has decades of research experience in food and agricultural fraud.
He commented: “I look forward to working with all those responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our food supply. Our shared challenge is to prove to the public that they can trust the systems that put food on their plate.”
His final report will be published next spring.
