Spar smashes charity target

SPAR’S big-hearted retailers, staff and customers have raised £567,000 for Childline over the past year. The amount smashed the symbol group’s target donation of £500,000.
Staff across the UK worked in fancy dress, washed cars, baked cakes and did fun runs to help make the total.
Patricia Wheway, Spar’s UK charity controller, said: “Childline has handled over 2.9 million counselling sessions with children and young people since its launch in October 1986. Spar retailers have put in a phenomenal amount of hard work to achieve this amazing result.”
